I dig this CD so totally hard. My favorite tracks are, "Can't Have It" and "Bleed". Why did she hide that pretty pretty voice from us all those years?? In one of her songs, Theo sings: "A little hell goes a long way..." It should be ironic but I guess it really isn't, that a woman who is heavenly to gaze upon sings of heavy darkness. While some songs give the feeling of daisies dropping from the clouds and slow motion loveliness all around there are also tracks where the sky turns dark, the mascara gets smeared, and the trip gets moody.
The mellowness of some of the tracks affects the psyche more than the listener might expect. Theo's haunting vocals splendidly add to the confusion of what your reality is. I mean, you hear a sweet voice describing rather unhappy, uncertain, unclear scenarios. Very engaging. And then there's the guitar work that keeps the angst within reach so that we don't disappear with no trace into a sad place.
