Okay, this chick released this record (her debut) last year sometime. Local rock radio played her song "True Friends" every dang hour, man, before it was ever released to the general public. The big deal was not only about her great voice and her guitar work but that she was only 14 years old when she recorded this CD. Like I said, I'd heard half the record before I'd ever seen her, so I didn't really believe her tender young age.

Her throaty singing voice sounds like a woman in a midlife crisis, and she sings with the passion of a woman who knows what it's like to be hitched and divorced more than a few times. The music is hard rockin' blues. Sultry. Her guitar playing is sexy and lonely-sounding at the same time. Shannon is credited as one of the songwriters but I don't know if that includes lyrics or not. Either way, her intensity when singing about heartache is pretty fucking amazing for a 14 year old.
When I finally saw a live performance of her on television - the chick DEFINITELY looked like a 14 year old, man. It was so weird to see a small, chubby-cheeked girl in hip hugger bell bottom jeans, with a velvet choker and with very little eye make-up singing with a seemingly whiskey-drenched deep-voiced authority, and showing off some crunchy bluesy blistering guitar work. Where the HELL did such a young woman get such an old soul? She is awesome, man. Check out her stuff...you won't be sorry.
