I saw this band in 1996, or something like that. They must have opened for Stone Fox, cuz that's the only time I would leave my bachelorette pad. I guess I was pretty intoxicated at the show and the only thing I remember is one of my friends licking the singer's boot while she performed on stage. But about a year later another friend bought me this CD. Well, I must have had fun that night in 1996 cuz this package of music fucking rocks man.
Power pop punk rock and roll. Real snotty. Great songwriting - all the hooks are there, and the musicianship is only perfect. A wall of guitars describing what it takes to make ears bleed, and a rhythm section that races as fast as your heart pounds when you're lying to someone right to their face...not that I've ever done that.
I remember hanging out backstage with the girls in the band after their San Francisco show and they had accents, Brits I think. Oh, wait - it's coming back to me now - FLUFFY played with D-Generation that night. Jorjee of Stone Fox was there cuz she knows the NYC boys in D-Gen, but I don't think her band played. Fuck, I dunno. It's 4 a.m. and maybe I'm making it all up and don't care...
THE BAND: Amanda Rootes:-vox, guitar; Helen Storer-bass; Bridget Jones-guitar; Angie Adams-drums.
