Gina's passionate, sexy scream-singing will make yer upper lip sweat and it might even throw yer back out dude! I really dig her style. It so RAWKS. Grabs ya by the pewter belt buckle of yer low cut greasy Levi's, pulls ya in and plants a big wet one right on yer face. And although she annunciates very well, I have no idea what the hell Gina's singing about on half these tracks. But in one song, I swear she's saying "fuck or fight". One of my favorites is the first single "Waiting For Rescue". Perfectly built for adrenalin and angst. I love everything about "Bad With Names". There's this aggressive and sexy little build up to the guitar solo, which in itself is pretty sensual. Short and sweet and to the peak. Now, there's a song called "Don't Ask Don't Tell" that I've been trying to figure out from day one. The heavy, solemn rhythm is another one of those tantalizing songwriting tricks...it's mesmerizing and makes you stop what yer doin' so that you can sway to the mood. But, it's the lyrics that have me enthralled and have caused debate between me and at least one friend. Whatever the song is about, it seems to be pretty intense and morose.
But, dude, there is not one throw-away song in this collection. Every damn track is a keeper. "Gorilla Rose" "The Car" "Breath of Life" "Dirty Machine"...shit, just all of them. Frantic-paced and in yer face or slowed down to a sensual gasp, Bantam does it melodic and LOUD. Take this record home with you and let it treat you right.
