I love this band with a misplaced heart. They're uglier than a gang of drunk junkies face down in piss alley, but, dude, they dress cool. They look under-fed and strung-out, and even their music sounds slurred. But with one listen to their sleazy, trashy, bluesy guitar work you'll love 'em too. There's some spit-happy mouth harp blowin' on "Everything I Want" but what I like best is the distant and haunting sound of a slide guitar on the acoustic track

called "Billy Two Rivers". I think my fave songs are "Last Bandit" and the drunken, broken-hearted ballad "The State I'm In".The singer's bourbon wrecked voice only paints the picture even more pretty-ugly. Punky turned me on to this band years and years ago. The DOGS are from someplace deep in Europe, so I could never find their music here in The States. When the owner of Mod Lang Records (based in Berkely, California on University Avenue) took a trip to London I asked him to bring home all the Micheal Monroe and Dogs D'Amour CDs he could find. And he did. This CD though is my favorite. If you can find their music on the Internet or at a local used record shoppe, go for it maaaaan. Good stuff.
